Calling 1-800 numbers from a cell phone....does it cost anything?

If I call a 1-800 number from my cell phone, will I still be charged/deducted the minutes of the call from my monthly cell phone minutes?

I am hearing both things, some are telling me no, it is completely free and doesn't use up any of my monthly cell minutes, others are telling me that yes, it will use my cell phone minutes to do this.

Any advice is appreciated.

  1. yea your minutes!

  2. Yes, you'll be charged minutes. I heard that the only number that won't cost you minutes is "911", and I'm not sure if that's true or not. You can always call your cell company and find out about charges.

  3. i'm on altel and unless the number is an altel number or in my circle it costs minutes even if a 1-800 number most carriers charge as well
