The past two weeks my daughter has been teething, or so that's what I think it is. Over the weekend she was fussier than normal and wanted to be held and not play. Here's her symptoms:

Past two weeks:

*Low grade fever- highest has been 100.2 and does not have a fever every day

*Gnawling on everything- somedays worse than others

*Runny nose- clear

*Fussiness

*Didn't want to eat cereal for 3 days last week, but took it fine this weekend.

This weekend she started:

*Not eating as much- 3-4oz compared to the normal 6oz every 3hrs

*Plays for 5 min in walker or on floor then wants to be held

*When held doesn't want toys to look at just wants to be held

*She was taking naps every 2 hours or so compared to every 3-4 hours and the naps were for longer periods of time than normal

*When she is going to sleep she fights it. Normally lays tummy to tummy and falls right asleep now she does not want to be layed on her tummy

*Rubbing eyes when tired.

Today she woke up with a slight cough, but it sounded watery and her breath smelt like vomit afterwards. She did not vomit.

We are going to the doctor this afternoon, but I wanted to ask the Dr Moms what they think it might be. Is it teething or possibly something else?

Thanks for your help!

  1. sounds like teething to me . my son is 15 months old and we just had him in the e.r. this weekend with a 103. fever . they ran the tests and everything was fine. he's getting his two year molars in . all the syptoms are the same as you have described. do like you are doing and go get her checked just ot make sure . good luck

  2. you didn't mention how old the baby is..it could be teething..it also could be a cold.. my son just got over the same thing..runny nose, low grade fever for three days, change in eating and playing habits..hopefully the doctor will have an answer for you

  3. yes sounds like it

get teething tablets... I got them at walmart.

they melt in their mouth instantly and mellow them out - takes the edge off.

also i loved baby oragel when the tooth starts to cut. it relieved pain - helped at bedtime and especially feedings.

    good luck.
