Calling Virgin Islands?

I know VI are part of America. I live in NY and i have long distance is there going to be an extra charge if i call VI. thanks.

  1. I also live in New York, I have a plan called Verizon Freedom Essentials (41.99 month) and I can call the USVI with my plan at no extra charge.

    The answer to your question is it depends on your phone provider and the plan you have. Give them a call.

It pretty much depends on the carrier being used on both ends.  We have a few carriers that are also popular on the mainland like AT&T and Sprint.  But even with the local carriers I doubt it'll be expensive to call anyone in the USVI or PR.  However if you're calling the British Virgin Islands it can get quite expensive.  I once called Tortola on on cell phone (I use Sprint) and they charged me like $1 a minute.  So if you're calling the Virgin Islands make sure the area code is 340, that's the USVI area code.

  4. It depends on the phone company.  A lot of them consider US Virgin Islands to be a "foreign" country and charge accordingly.  Try Vonage or Skype.
