My daughter is 11 my son 8 and for money reasons we are combining their party together. It will be at our local roller rink. We only have the rink for 2 hours. Should I just let them skate, should we play games also? Should they open there gifts there in front of everyone? Also I used to do the goody bag thing but I feel like it is a waste of money, what do you think? Do parents expect their kids to come home with something? I also just planned on chips, juice and cake thats good, right???

Thanks in Advance, also if you have any suggestions Please leave them!!!

  1. I would do the same. Goodie bags are a waste of money and cake is fine. Let them play and enjoy themselves, just like u would at chuckee cheese.

  2. I think the goody bags are a waste of money.  Although I do make little candy bags for each kid and that seems to be a hit.  From my experience ask you kids if they want to play games or just skate :) They will know better than anyone.  Focus more on the drinks they will be sweaty and thirsty :)

    Good Luck and Have Fun

  3. My husband owns a bowling center/roller skating rink. We rent out the skating rink for parties (2 hours too). Normally, what happens is the kids just skate and the skating rink should have a few things for them to do (hokey pokey, chicken dance, etc.). The families usually will bring in snacks and cake and serve throughout the two hours and open presents towards the end if necessary. Don't worry about goody bags. Renting the skating rink is enough!

  4. The skating party is a great idea!! You can let them skate for a while before bringing out the cake and singing Happy Birthday, then everyone will probably go back to skating after they eat. Cake and drinks should be fine, I wouldn't worry about the chips or other snacks. Goody bags aren't needed either. The DJ should call out games while the kids are skating, like the bunny hop, four corners, limbo... wow I feel old - they probably play different games now but you get the idea. =) Have a great time! I'm sure the kids will!

  5. I would just let them skate, the rinks usually incorporate games anyway. I would play it by ear, if all the kids spend the entire time skating then you dont really have time for opening gifts....but make sure you do the whole thank you card thing so you acknowledge what each kid bought.

I think it sounds great, I just went to a party like that and it was exactly the same.
