Question:

Calling all Super Moms, Dads, & Singles!!!?

I have 2 small children ( 3 & 5 ) 2 big dogs, a husband who works really hard and isn't home a whole lot, and a house that I can't seem to keep up with! I need a better way to organize my time and prioritize my daily tasks - Does anybody have a schedule or other means of organization that they use? Are there any websites that can help me plan out such a schedule? I feel like I'm in a losing battle of chores and I'm drowning in piles of laundry and dishes ~ I clean one room - the kids have it wrecked 5 minutes later.... So, if June Cleaver or any Martha Stewarts are out there and can lend me some advice or knowledge I'd appreciate it!

  1. the 3&5 are pretty big now you have to show them how to help you keep the house clean and with the dogs if you can't deal with 2 stay with 1, or put your kids in daycare during the day like that you have more time for yourself

  2. First off, the kids are old enough to put their toys away after they play with them.  Worry less about clutter and more about clean if you know what I mean.

The trick is to multi task.  Figure out which tasks you can complete while doing others, pick the ones that go best together, and do those on the same day of the week.  (like laundry and vacuuming or dusting and picking up toys.  Don't clean one room at a time, you'll only be let down when it's done.  Do one chore for the whole house and you'll get more done.

At least you don't have to work.  Many of us do it all along with a full time job.

  3. Some of the people that have really neat houses make their children stay outside and play.  I let mine stay inside but I try not to let friends in the house to play because they make the biggest mess.

  4. 3 & 5 yo are old enough to help u around the house. and maybe they'll appreciate all that mommy does and help keep it that way!

  5. I am a reformed Martha Stewart. LOL

Now I'm just a relaxed OCD version.

Night time is your friend. Every night before bed, I load the dishwasher and run it, Sort the laundry, Pre-make coffee, pick up around the house, wipe down the kitchen and living room.

Before my kids go to bed I get their showers out of the way and blow dry their hair and they pick out their clothes for the next morning.

In the morning all you have to do is vacuum, unload the dishwasher and start a load of laundry. You can do all of that while they eat breakfast. That way while they play after eating, you can have some down time since all the major stuff is done.

Pick 2 days per week where you will wash sheets, vacuum curtains, etc.

Tupperware is the best. Store everything in tupperware and stack it neatly in the closets.

Pick one day per week where you will really get down and dirty with the cleaning. LOL

Keep diaper wipes in the bathrooms and after brushing teeth, doing makeup etc, tell everyone they need to grab a wipe and wipe the sink , mirror and floor area. You can sanatize in the evening quickly.

Let everyone know you have started a new rule in your home. It's called the Seven Second Rule. When you are finished with something (crayons, scissors, cup, toy, tools etc) it only takes Sevon seconds to put it back before starting somethinfg new. anyone that doesn't follow the rule has to do one of your chores in the morning. No exceptions.

Good Luck, hon! Relax!! With kids your home won't be spotless (I've learned this) but at least it can be clean and comfortable.

  6. Wake up earlier then the kids, and take a shower, put in a load of laundry.

When their eating, take the laundry out and put it in the dryer.

After their done eating, let then play outside or watch a movie.

While your getting lunch ready ask them to help clean off the table so they can eat on it.

After their done eating, clean them up and put them down for a nap.

While their napping, you can do some more housework, or even get some alone time to do things you love!
