  1. One of the ways I help my high octane coffee maintain its flavor is to make my ice cubes out of the same coffee I like to drink.  In order to maintain the flavor of the icecubes, I cover them in plastic (which can be reused).

    Hope this helps

  2. Well, multiply the amount of beans you use per cup/shot in a HOT drink by 1.25 to get how many you should use in an iced drink. Since ice will dilute the drink and also chilled coffee doesn't release its flavors as easily, it's important that it be stronger than normal.

Certain coffees take to chilled drinks much better than others. In my experience, coffees from Kona, HI and from Latin America do well iced - their light, herbal/floral flavors suit the drink well and aren't lost. I tend to avoid coffees with smoky or spicy flavors in iced drinks - chilled, they just taste bitingly sharp. Then again, this is all personal preference.

Something I like to do to make iced coffee is to brew it hot with a french press, and then pour it through a strainer filled with ice into a glass. It's relatively quick and (once you get the hang of it) easy. Although I have heard that coffee preserves its flavors better if you cool it to room temperature and then pour it over ice.

    Best of luck!

  3. Brew with less water than needed so when the ice melts it won't dilute or brew ahead of time and keep the coffee cold in the fridge

  4. Go with Jeanette on this one. I knew a Mom & Pop cafe that did the coffee ice cubes, that way when they melt it doesn't  water down the drink.

I double-brew ice coffee which means you use twice as much coffee for a hot pot but the water for a single pot then fill a pitcher half  or 2/3 full with coffee and add ice to the top. keep it in the fridge and drink within 8 hours.

  5. Brew the coffee 2 times using the same grounds. If still not the way you want it to taste, brew it a 3rd time. This way you ensure to get all of the taste out of the beans.

For iced coffee it needs to be stronger due to the ice melting and if you add milk or cream to it, it will only make it taste weaker. So multiple brewing will help.

In regards to cooling. You can pour the coffee into a pitcher and put it in the fridge. Make sure it has a tight cover or plastic wrap on it .

  6. I have Iced Lattes every morning in the summer....  I use 2-3 shots of espresso (regular strength coffee will be too diluted - so at least make double-strength, if you don't have an espresso machine) ....a little liquid creamer and a scoop of Natural Vanilla ice cream, and some ice cubes .....  If your coffee is too weak, it's because you're using regular strength coffee......
