Calling all experienced cake decorators!?

Question

I am looking for a unique idea for a cake. I am experienced in decorating so any ideas are welcome. I am on a billiard team and it is my captains (a female) birthday is coming up and I want to make a cake for her and the team to celebrate. I don't want to do the typical pool table cake with the billiard ball, however, I am coming up empty for other ideas. Given it will be brought to the bar during our match I thought a billiard theme cake would be more appropriate...any ideas to help me out???!!! Thanks in advance.

I would make a 1/2 or full sheet cake, and then some mini cupcakes (or see if you can rent small ball cake pans - I know they have larger ones for basket ball cakes) then I'd decorate the flat cake like a billiards table, and the mini cupcakes like the billiards balls.

Ooh!  Ooh!  Ooh!  Make a cake out of cupcakes.  Make it look like the billiard balls in the triangle rack.  Decorate w/ all the correct numbers and colors... maybe on the 8 ball, put her age instead of 8!  You could even make a little blue chalk cube out of a petit four.

make cupcakes, and rack em like they were balls. :)

Frost them so they look like the balls too!
