  1. It's def called the I Spin, if your talking about her signature spin!

And if you can do the splits you can do the spin without a problem.

    It's mainly balance!

  2. I've seen it referred to as both the I spin and the Y spin (and also as a Sasha spin).

I think it depends on how close you can get your leg to your head - closer makes it look like an I, further out makes it look like a Y.  :)

  3. Is it this spin position?

I've heard it called the "I" spin, or skaters referring it as "Sasha Cohen spin" . . . and, um, I've heard some other "bodily names" for it simply because of the position.

I don't do this spin, but I can get into that position.  Once you can do splits, the next thing is to get flexible enough that you can get your head down to your knees.  You can do also do in the doorway, doing the splits standing up (you can hold the doorway, but try not to rely on it too much).  Press your leg against the doorway to help with strength.  For balance, try to get into that position on the floor . . . keep your back arched as much as possible  (no cheating by hunching over or tilting your head forward).

Sasha seems to pull her leg right up from a sit position, so her leg seems to be directly in front of her.  That's a harder stretch because it's easier turning out that leg to go up from the side!!

    Good luck!

  4. It's called the Y spin, but people call it the I spin. I can do it on the ice almost as good as her cause I do the same thing off ice except i'm not moving.
