  1. I wrote poems since elementary school.I even won awards, & all through my 20's I wrote about love and my beautiful neices & nephews & kids and life. Now that I am married with my own children and am the happiest I have ever been, I can't seem to express it at all in wrinting. i haven't written in years. I think that instead of forcing yourself to write, you need to sit back and experience every little thing that is happening to you in your life & how you feel about it, and when you are at peace or feeling a certain feeling, I am sure it will come back to you. Just don't force it. I feel like mine will come back when I am not so busy everyday with all the chores of a wife & mother & am able to look back and reflect on my life. My grandmother did the same thing, & when she died, i got all her beautiful poetic memories! Keep the faith!

  2. Paradoxically, your block may actually be indicative of your growth as a poet.  You see, the poet is one who knows the secret language of inanimate things -- they "speak" to him, but the difficulty arises is translating that language, none of whose words is known to us, into a standard language.  Experience the world of those things.  What does a rusty gate say; an abandoned bucket of rainwater with a solitary beetle swimming across its vast expanse; a city of stones (a graveyard)?  Write a prose piece about your impressions, and your mind will in time find the language necessary to convey, however imperfectly or incompletely, the soaring peaks and despondent hollows of your newly acquired emotional landscape.  Even if this fails, you will have grown in your humanity, and that, more than the words you produce, will be the measure of your completeness and the fulfillment of your destiny.  All the best.

  3. That happens to me a lot, if I'm either really happy or depressed I can write really good stuff, but when I'm just in a decent mood I can't write. Just let the poetry come to you, listen to some inspiring music or something, it will come back. Good luck!

  4. Are there any open writers workshops in your area? post a few poems somewhere and get feedback. Have you taken a lit/poetry class recently? Maybe your getting growing pains as an artist- recognizing great works, while trying to move past rubbish. Maybe its the subject? How old are you? I quit writing poems when I left my teenage years, and quit writing lovely, heartbreaking, angst-y things. They make me cringe now.

  5. I write the best when I'm really down on something, or drunk.

  6. every writer gets writing blocks once in a while. lol. im in one too, i write songs.=]

umm, i just read cosmo girl today and it was talking about people who want to be writers and it said there was like how to dummie books or whatever. lol. i know its weird but those things help. and maybe theres stuff on the internet.

think of things going on right now and pull from that. any drama. problems. or something happy with friends or the love life=] if you get deep into thought about stuff then words pour out,

    good luck<3

  7. poetry is most of the time tied in to your emotions... if you were going through a hard time or a really really good time... it translates into your poetry... just because you dont like what your writing now does not mean you have lost your talent...i think your trying too hard... take a step back and dont take it so seriously something will come to you...

  8. what i do is write what is in my heart

if you want some ideas go to my poems at

    poetrypoems.com/amyspoems

    hope this helps

and you can even read other peoples poems

  9. take time to yourself to just think... go on a walk or something.

the thing that helps me write music is just to sleep in late and stay up til about 5am. usually after midnight is when my juices get flowing.

  10. Get a thesaurus. Get a ryming dictionary. You are just like me. I used to write amazing distinguished pieces and now they are apprentice range. Do what I did, it really helped. Get a thesaurus, rhyming dictionary, and look up distinguished poetry on google. Read it and get inspired. get the beat. Remember, it doesn't have to rhyme!! I prefer rhyming because it keeps with the beat of the poem. Turn your poetry beautiful again!

  11. artists be they writers or photographers or poets need inspiration... do not THINK about writing go experience something different do something thrilling or peaceful and then sit down and scribe what you felt, experienced or dreamed :)

  12. That happend to me. I stopped writing for a while. Just keep writing and it will come back. You could be stressed too. Try to get inspired.
