Only a fool would judge a team on their performance in one game. The squad NZ took to France was one of the best teams we have ever put together. And they put in the worst performance by a NZ team at any world cup to date.

How could any man in the NZ WC squad look one of the French players in the eye and say . . .

Edit: Actually nonenzeder, I think you are missinformed. Argentina are ranked 6th and they have never beaten RSA or NZ - which suggests on any given day they would not triumph, think RSA made that quite clear a coulpe of weeks ago, or did you miss that game?

RSA and NZ are way ahead of the rest of the world, have been for every and a day. Wales were untouchable for a period in the 70's and Australia have had their moments. But there are only really two teams consistently spanking all others.

Why do you think NZ is still ranked number one in the world despite putting in their worst performance at any world cup ?

All Blacks are the best side in the world. One loss to France with the benefit of some dodgy refereeing does not change the fact they won 42 of 48 games prior and have completely pulverised every side in the world in that period. They have had the highest IRB rating in history and no side has gotten remotely close to what they were rated pre world cup in the 20 year history of the IRB ranking. It will be business as usual for the next four years, punishing every side in the world in retribution for not winning the world cup. England and SA are first on the cards next season and they will learn the hard way who is the best side in the world then.

The stark reality is when critical decisions were need to be made and the heat was put on the All Blacks they folded.  The Olympic Games, Super Bowl, UEFA cup, every mayor contest is about performing on the night.  They didn't they lost end of story.

edit: I have no doubt the ABs are one of the best teams in the world and only dropped one spot in the rankings, but I have to agree with 'bru' since the cup began they just dont cut it when the pressures on! now you can all go on about the ABs being the best in the world and will be for the next 4 yrs but in the cold light of day bring home the d**n cup and prove it. Until its done this ABs fan will only agree with them being one of a few best.... but not the best......

You are right. I think that All Blacks just had 1 bad game. Why should they be judged on 1 bad game... and if the ref were up to it, perhaps we wouldn't be having this conversation.
