http://www.notcanada.com/

that was the site, i want all of you guys and gals to do me a huge big favor which is go in to that site and tell me is it true what these people are saying about canada? because i am about to move, and all my families future depends on this. I was quiet shocked to see what they says in the site, i couldn't ask my relatives who live there because of the blasting IDD phone call rate here in this island. 1. Hi,

If your have a business back-home, please do not windup. Come here, see the situation, study different options of business and then decide. Be prepared for challenges. Do not plan a business with 5/10 % of equity, that will cost you big interest and your whole income will go to bank. That will end up in a failure and an odd job or taxi driving.

    Wish you good luck,

    Webmaster,

  2. i have looked at the site before, and unfortunately, most of it is true. Immigrants do get quite a raw deal when they come over here, and it is a real shame for us.

If you have money to invest, you are obviously in a different position, though. If you have the money to visit first, I would definitely recommend it, and talk to some actual immigrants while you are here.

  3. its all anti-canada propaganda...i doubt the people who created the sight are actually the canadians they claim to be.....that site is full of bull, and dont buy into it for a second

ps..all the doctors in my town are from africa and india, everyone i know has a family doctor, and i have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for surgery, and many members of my family have immigrated here

  4. There are always some people who will find something to criticize no matter what.

I came to Canada from England in 1977 and it has been a great place to live and raise my family.

The first couple of years were hard as we had no family here and we had no friends here either, but we persevered and made a new life for ourselves and a better life for our children.

Did we get the jobs we thought we were going to get?  Eventually.  In England my husband was a Police Officer, here he had to work in a factory for minimum wage for a year, because no Police Departments were hiring at that time.  Were we disappointed?  Of course, but he applied for Police jobs outside of the area where we were living and was eventually hired by a Police Department in the far north of Ontario.

The point is that it is up to the immigrant to adapt, blend in and join in with the Canadian way of life, it is not up to the country and citizens of Canada to accommodate the newcomers.

If you are willing to work hard, immerse yourself in the Canadian way of life, make new friends and perhaps relocate to another city for a few years, then Canada is an amazing place to be.

Good Luck with your decision, but keep in mind that we hardly ever regret the things we do, but we often deeply regret the things we DIDN'T do.

  5. RUSH Kicks ASSPRIN!!!

  6. Don't believe anything you read until you see it with your own eyes

  7. this is a virus website!!!

  8. THIS WEBSITE IS THE REAL CANADA!

Canadians  try to cover their asses and shamelessly rant that their country is the best.. (what???)

  9. Unfortunately, everything that u see on that site is 150% true! The cost of living is INSANE if u live in a big city (I live in Toronto) and yes it's true that we have ppl that were educated doctors in their country are working as taxi drivers here. and if u have no education, expect to make minimum wage  here (even though Ontario has the highest  minium wage in Canada of $8.75/hr, however im not sure about Saskatchewan) but the minimum wage is so high because the cost of living is so high here, so it has to be. Canada is NOT the place to be, unless if u were born here, so u should think about it! BE PREPARED TO WORK HARD!!!

  10. The notcanada website was developed and published by people who have a personal grudge against Canada.

The best way to tell a lie is to add a bit of truth to the stories so that people will not notice when you are lying to them. So you get facts that may be true in PARTS of Canada, and then make people believe that it is tru nationwide. Or you would take one event that happened and say that this is a sign that it is true everywhere.

There was an Iranian fellow that was posting messages here under various different names and saying very untrue things about Canada. He complained about immigrants being taxed too high, racism, cost of living in Canada, not allowed to make a living as a freelance photographer, unable to get his toothache addressed by a dentist, etc.

The problem is that this fellow originally migrated to USA, but (for some reason) was kicked out and ended up in Vancouver. That city is one of the most expensive to live in here in Canada, and parts of the city have a drug and crime problem that they are trying to address. Needless to say he was not happy, and not afraid to ramble on an on about the unfairness of it all and directed everyone to the notcanada website.

As an immigrant, you are free to come to Canada and the government will let you start a business and make a living. But do not expect handouts! They will not give you money to start the business or for you to live on. They expect you to be able to pay for things yourself, just like other Canadians.

The only thing that you should check into is if you are a professional (doctor, nurse, lawyer, architect, etc), make sure that the degree you earned OUTSIDE of Canada will be recognized here.

For that part, the notcanada website gives you a bit of truth...We do have doctors that have come to Canada that are not allowed to practice medicine because their university degree is not recognized here and they need to take additional courses and pass tests here to be allowed to do so. Those that do not pass or are not recognized could end up working at a restaurant or driving a taxi cab because they are not yet approved in this country. That is because Canadians expect a certain standard of quality from its medical professionals and we do not want someone practicing here that is poorly trained or lacks the right skills.

Moving to another country is a major change in your life and that of your family. You say that the IDD phone rates are expensive, but relocating is expensive too! If I were you I would invest in the phone call to ask your relatives their opinion of Canada as they have been here a year and can give you their opinion as a minority or an immigrant to the country. If preferred, communicate with them by email or even just a letter so you can see what they say.

  11. do not listen to canadians who lie about what is really happening to this country.. this site is a compilation of what is really happening to canada.

canadians always try to lift their selves up.

this is not the only website that deals with the canadians liars..

    check    www.canadaimmigrants.com

  12. Unfortunatly what this web site is saying is truth. Docotrs and lawyers from foriegn countries...usually do end up working in dead end jobs. Foriegn degrees are not good enough to our greedy government..I have met several people who have come to Canada some who were dentists others were veternarians..It sickens me as well as sadens me. Our government cmplains endlessly that no one is filling these spots in our economy..they want to nut they are just not able to. If u study here then yes you are fine just dnt waste 4 years of your life in your home country earning yourself a degree because when you cross that boarder it doesnt acoount for anything.

  13. I only got a little short of half way listening to the broadcast on the page when I decided to close it off.  When I came back to finish listening to it, I had a lot of trouble reaching the web site.  It seemed to be taking a long time to display, and then I would be brought back to the page with your question.  However, from what I heard, I would say that it presents an accurate reflection of what the situation is really like for immigrants to Canada.  I would not say, on the other hand, that anybody is really to blame for much of what was deplored in it.

Canadians have become increasingly aware of and concerned by what has been perceived as a denigration of the blue collar trades and skilled labour.  Generally, Canada has had a shortage of skilled labour, and immigrants with skills in demand can rapidly be accommodated into the work force.  The demand for employees with higher academic education is not as strong, except maybe in some technical and computer-related jobs.

A former neighbour of mine married an Australian who had worked as a pharmacist in Australia but gave up the notion of practising pharmacy in Canada almost as soon as he arrived here because the drug classification and naming system in Australia was too vastly different from the one used in Canada.  Pharmacy credentials are not a safe bet for people moving from a different continent to Canada.

A lot of Canadians with Master's and Doctorate degrees cannot find work in the corresponding field, so when immigrants try to compete with them for the limited number of jobs that exist, it is very difficult.

I personally feel that Canada is a land that makes it very difficult, if not next to impossible, to operate a private honest business.  The System that thrives and "advances" on theft will always be placing obstacles in your way.  You will be competing with Walmarts.  A lot of immigrants came to The Magical Land of North America thinking they could find honest opportunity to get ahead, only to find a pervading attitude that says people have to rob someone in order to get ahead.

Immigrants to Canada might also find an overtone of racism in a background of cleanliness and political correctness.  I once worked for a while with the Government of Canada, and I noticed that the government office appeared to have in its employment a token one person of every major cultural background in Canada.  For example, it had exactly one person of Chinese background, one of East Indian background, one of North American aboriginal background, and so on.  It was interesting how it had exactly one of each.  You would think that by the laws of chance, two of some type of background would have ended up there.  It did, however, have lots and lots of French Canadians employed in it, especially Acadians.  On only one occasion did I ever hear of anybody having requested bilingual service.  It was situated in Western Canada.  Often, if parcels arrived from India or Pakistan, the parcel pickup notice from Customs was timed to be sent out so that it arrived at the addressee's home the day the parcel was to be sent back.  If the person to whom the parcel was addressed phoned the office, legitimately distraught, the government employees would be rude to them, twisting the facts to make the immigrants feel like it was their fault, when it was the govenment employees who had set the scenario.

I have witnessed a lot of recent immigrants friving taxis.  Many native inhabitants drive them as well.

Canada is not a Utopia.  If you like some of the factors it does have going for it, you might benefit from waiting it out and hoping things will get better.

  14. the website is pretty true. if you are an immigrant here, be prepared to work somewhere far beneath yor qualifications for the first little while, until you start making some connections, and perhaps go back to school here. i have an uncle from cuba who moved here and ended up having to go back to school for 3 years, but is now very happy and has a good job.

taxes here are very high, becaue of our health care system, and depending on where you live (i live in toronto), good luck finding a doctor!! i've been here for 8 years and have given up on the idea of having a family doctor!

but..... canada does have its pros. it is a beautiful country, the people who live here are really nice, and if you are willing to put in the time and extra money into education here, you can be very successful!!

also, do more research into where exactly in calgary you will be moving. canada is a very big country and it's different everywhere!

    good luck!

  15. Regardless of what this website says, and yes some of it is true, Canada is one of the best countries in the world. We are repeatedly ranked the highest for quality of life, so ya its gonna cost you money to live like that. Some of the things on this website we are already on our way to fixing. Dont let it discourage you from moving here, because every country has its downfalls and Id have to say we have alot less downfalls than most. Think about it like this. We have soooo much farm land, fresh water, oil, resources, and not many people, id say that make us a good place to be heading into the dark predicted future. Hope you still move here!

  16. That website is completely false.

  17. Yes, we have doctors driving taxis.

Doctors from foreign countries cannot just show up and start practicing medicine.

They can, however, re-certify under Canadian standards by going through several levels of testing.  This is just a common sense thing to do.  I personally think that the process needs to be sped up, but I'm glad it's there.

Whoever started this website has a major agenda against Canada, and it should be taken with a grain of salt.  Notice how the American flag shows up in several places on there, and the end of FAQs says "God bless you"?  That's an American thing to do, not Canadian.

Good luck in your decision...Canada is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

  18. Canada takes in 250,000 immigrates a year.Canada is not paved with gold,There will always be some people that are not happy and disappointed. It`s like going to a movie every one says is so great, and when you see it you were let down because you thought it was going to be better.

There are many successful immigrants in Canada,Are Governor General was a immigrant

  19. I didn't check the website in case it does have viruses -- but I will tell you that there are ups and downs to moving to Canada, just like *every* country.

There are a lot of difficulties moving to Canada if you are poor but not a refugee; if you received medical or other accreditation in a non-recognized foreign university; etc.

However, there are a lot of international organizations that still say that Canada is one of the best places in the world to live. And I agree.

    No country is perfect!  Ever!
