Calling back a job interview ?

When the job hasnt called you back and you call back whats the best thing to ask for, is it just whats the status on my app or what works?

I would ask for the Manager first.  If they ask what it is regarding, just politely tell them you would like to speak to the Mgr. (many managers avoid these calls!  Let them think you are a customer!)

Tell them your name, that you applied for the position, and that you are really interested in working for _____.  When would they be holding interviews?

This shows the mgr that you are enthusiastic and allows you to ask additional questions.  Mgr tells you they don't have a position, ask when they expect to be hiring.   Be persistent.  It works!  Good luck :)
