Graeme Swann says calling for Warne is a proof of England’s dominance in the Ashes series
England Spinner, Graeme Swann has said that people wanting Shane Warne back in the Australian side is proof of England’s dominance in the Ashes series. The two Ashes Tests are finally over, and it has left the Australians with
a lot of thinking to do. Australia were completely outplayed in the Adelaide Test, and from the looks of their recent performances they don’t look like the favorites to win the Ashes back. Their performance in the second Test lacked unity, and most of their
players did not complement one another. Australia at the moment are under a lot of pressure and this pressure and frustration is showing in their actions and comments. It’s not quite often that one sees Australia being beaten by an innings margin, and one
feels it would take a mammoth effort from them to bounce back in the series.
Besides this recent humiliation, the Australians are under fire from all corners, especially from the media. The recent suggestion in this build up has been to include the legendary Shane Warne in the Australian squad. It seems
the Australians are desperate enough to consider such farfetched possibilities as to bring back Spin Wizard, Shane Warne.
Graeme Swann was quick to realize the situation and has commented that this suggestion and comment reflects England’s dominance over Australia in the Ashes series. England has certainly dominated the Aussies from the start of the
Ashes series, and it looks like Australia’s home record of the Ashes series might be broken. Graeme Swann said that it looks highly unlikely that Shane Warne would come out of retirement to play just three Test matches. In the second Test match everyone felt
the need of a genuine spinner in the side, as Xavier Doherty was quite ineffective in the Adelaide Test. Xavier Doherty conceded a lot of runs, and managed to pick only one wicket of his 27 over’s. The English batsmen used their feet well against Xavier Doherty
and scored easily off his bowling.
Nothing would be more pleasing to the Aussie public then to see their best spinner return to their side, but it seems highly unlikely. Graeme Swann said that it’s good to see that Australia wants him back in their side and he also
acknowledged the fact that the Australian public is interested in his return. Shane Warne retired from Test Cricket in 2007, and it was the perfect time for the leg-spinner to retire as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had just completed a whitewash (5-0) over the English team.
He is also the only leg spinner to manage 708 wickets in Test Cricket.
