I'm a little socially awkward, but I'm looking for a new job right now. I found one that I could definitely do, advertised on the local newspaper's website. It says call for an interview.

Uh... What do I say? I've got a tendency to ramble and I don't know what else to say other then "Hi, I saw you had a job on The Citizen and wanted to know if I could get some of that"

not really, but seriously, I don't know what to say. D:

  1. I would say "Hi, I am interested in the "whatever" position, I saw posted on The Citizen."  Introduce yourself,  then ask "How do I apply?" Be sure and smile while you are talking! It will show in your voice! Good luck!  and go get 'em!

  2. Hi, my name is Annie Smith. I am inquiring about the job you have listed in The Citizen. I would like to set up an interview please.

Thats it. Dont ramble. People tend to talk to much.

  3. If it asks to ring, I usually just say 'Hi, I noticed the sales associate position in the The Citizen today and was interested in applying, could you tell me if the positions been taken' - if they say yes then they'll also tell me what i need to do to apply for it or if its a no then just say thanks for your help and goodbye.

  4. Good question. The first thing I would do is research the company. If you have access to a computer, go online and read what you can about them. Then, with your resume in hand, practice in front of the mirror speaking on yourself and why you would like to come in for that interview. Practice, practice, practice! That is key. Another thing is call first thing in the morning. After noon, people are usually on to other things. So you want to look like you are right on it and are excited about the opportunity. Finally, be excited but not over the edge. Speak in your best voice (with a smile), be professional and collected. They may decide to interview you right over the phone so be prepared with the info you found online and your resume. The main thing is to always be ready! If you are sharp over the phone, then they figure you are definitely together in person. Another quickie, check the person's mood. It never hurts to make someone laugh when they sound a little down. Remember, they are human too. Dont be intimidated. Hope this helps! Good blessings to you!
