  1. I have to agree with flounder and the answer he gave. Taking it up to the next level means passing on your great wealth of knowledge in catching fish to the next generation or to those desiring to learn with no one to instruct or volunteer to help. Seeing a face light up upon catching a first fish never grows old regardless of the age of the angler. There may be an opportunity to volunteer at a community youth program in your locale.

  2. I agree with Laura, you may even want to try saltwater fishing if possible. If you're looking for eating fish, try walleye fishing.(if you haven't already) Try to catch bigger and better fish at bigger and better lakes. Also, you can try ultralight fishing. It provides a fun new way of catching fish. Instead of trying to focus on one good size eating fish for your mom to cook, how about walking into the house with several stringers loaded with decent size fish. Talking to other anglers at your favorite lake could prove to be fruitful. You may find a new favorite species to fish for.

  3. try using lighter line and a lighter pole (a 5 lb on a ultra light or light action rod puts up a huge fight

  4. I've tried to read this 5 times and can't understand what you are saying.  Are you saying you can catch fish when no one else can?  You are bored of fishing? It sounds like you think you are the best angler in the world. If you are, call ESPN and tell them your story and maybe they will give you your own show.

  5. If you want thrill go carp fishin. They fight hard, and long. You need a heaver rig, and you use corn as bait. go to the local takel shop for places to fish, and more tips.

  6. Well Mr. Wee,

If you are good at catching fish when no one else is catching anything, try putting down your pole and help other people learn how to catch fish so that they can enjoy our sport a little more. I am sure there are some kids out there who could benefit from your knowledge of the sport. That is how you take it to the next level, by helping someone else. I think you will find a new satisfaction in this sport if you only try.

    Tight lines!

  7. Maybe try to master a different reel, or a different type of bait. Or focus on only one type fish and release all the rest. Maybe try some different locations as well. Also, go fishing with a buddy, this usually helps bring some fun into it.

If these things don't bring the spark back and you are still bored, then it might be time to take a break for a while. Backing off for a little while will get you craving it again. If it doesn't then maybe you should only be fishing when you really want the fish at home to eat that night.

I hope this helps. Sorry that your interest has deminished. If you are always catching fish though, I would suppose it could lose it's spark, I wish I had the problem of catching too many...lol.

Remember the key is CHANGE. Good luck.

  8. If you are a bait fisherman, try switching to artificials.  Most people can catch fish using bait--it's just casting it out and waiting--basically BORING. However, it it does have it's place when you just want a relaxing day on the water and I've used bait, especially if I'm fishing with kids.

There are so many different types of artificials that you could spend a lifetime mastering all of them. Honestly, I never get over the THRILL of the blow-up on topwaters--whether I catch the fish or not.

  9. I think everyone in the industry or fishing somehow for a living or for sanity (which is even more important) we all hit stumbling blocks and though there is no code of ethics most fishermen would just as soon as lie about a secret spot or a new exciting lure to use. I had always fished for trout spincast, spinning, baitcaster and fly fishing. I hit bottom when I had spent five years practicing every weekend and keeping a ledger of weather, water clarity and temperature lakes topographical maps, wind direction, moon phases, time of day, what I was using, in what depth, cloudy or sunny or rainy and fished in club tournaments to do one thing..... My goal was to enter a real live bass tournament and win it. It was h**l for months I had spent five years on the water working hard at putting fish in the live well and when I finally entered a tournament my own h**l payed out, I won it lock stock and barrel I had no other goals set and thought what now? just like you are. I went back to school, I started reading again, about all the fish out there waiting impatiently for my baits so I can catch them and. I went from Bass to Salmon to Halibut and then White sea bass and focused on each specie until I got it! it came to me I needed to give back to the community and worked teaching fishing with the D F G and their outreach program called fishing in the cities we began a sponsered club called the responsible anglers and taught seven steps to fishing at lakes and parks after we cleaned up the lake waters and the bottoms and stocked fish in them then right there assisting a kid who took the class catching his or her first fish was a rush and well now I just fish and relax as old bones and joints don't like the long boat rides to the awesome spots any more and the D F G lost their money to support the outreach so revel in your youth and learn a new trick... fish a new kind of fish.... maybe enter a tournament and win it.
