  1. 9Suns isn't quite right - (0)115 is the code for the city of Nottingham, other places in Nottinghamshire (Newark, Mansfield, etc) have their own codes. Just dial 01144 followed by the number you've been given (without the first 0).

To correct sarch_uk, you don't dial "+" - in international phone numbers the plus sign just means "dial  the code to get an international line in the country you're calling from", which in all of North America is 011. In Europe it's 00.

  2. To call anywhere in Nottinghamshire from the US, you'd call 011-44-115- then the phone number which is usually 7 digits

  3. The code to call out of the US is 011

The international code for the UK is + 44

So if you were calling me on my number which is 01484 86**** you would leave off the first 0 of my number, so you would dial

    011 + 44 1484 86****

To call your friend dial 011 +44, then their number leaving off the first 0

    Edit

Well slap my wrist...I stand corrected!

    (grin)
