Calling from a U.S. number to another U.S. number overseas?

I'm calling someone at the UK from a California phone number, but she will be answering from a Nevada direct line. She lives in the UK but has a Las Vegas phone number on her cell. Will I still get charged for airtime if something like this happens?

  1. If you are calling from the same area code as her Nevada number and calling from PSTN land-line, then it should be free for you.

If the number is out of your "local calling area" then, you are only charged for the long distance charges from your area code to her Nevada area code.

But, if you are using a cell to make the calls, then you may be charge for your usual cell "air time" (that only depends on your cell contract terms).

And, of course she will be paying for her cell air time as usual too.

  2. Probably, It depends on your phone company.

  3. No - for you it will be a US call, although they may get charged international roaming charges, depending on their plan
