Calling off wedding after wedding shower, already took back gifts with the gift recipt,how do u send back??

when you call off a wedding, and than need to return the gifts,

what do you do when::

-you took the gift back and exchanged it?

-you spent the gift card?

You need to give the money back for the gift cards and give money back for the value of the gifts, but your ex fiance should also pitch in for this.

I say send the people the ammount of $$ the gift cost. I can't think of any other way to do it.

For gift cards, you could either return the items you purchased with the gift card or send them a check for the amount of the gift card.

If you exchanged the gift, see if you can exchange it back.  Or again, write them a check for the value of the gift.

Good luck & good for you for caring enough about your guests to return the gifts! I sent a gift for a wedding that was later called off - nothing was ever returned to me, nor did I receive a thank you card or note regarding the gift at all.  I thought it was the rudest thing in the world!

Any gifts that you haven't returned or spent, you should return with a note saying that you are so sorry to have to announce that the wedding is no longer going ahead, and that you are returning their wonderful gift, and that you hope they can use it themselves, or give it to someone else at another time.  Most people will feel for you and wont mind - Some may even insist that you keep the gift - in which case, it's OK to do so.

If you've spent a gift card - give cash back to the person in the same avlue as the gift card.

If you've exchnaged a gift, then you still should return it, again with a note explaining that the wedding is not going ahead, and that you had exchanged their gift for something a little more suited to your taste and need.  ASk them to not be offended, and that you hope they can find a use for it themselves, or give it to someone else as a gift at a leter date.
