The problem is before they let him out of jail he has to have a place to go. Well he does have a place to go!When the parole officer goes to the place where he is going to be living what do they look for?Do they search the place for anything that's not supposed to be there?Do they talk to the landlord to make sure the rent is paid up?How nosy are they?thanks every one for helping out!

  1. he is about right minus a few things

  2. Yes, we check a lot of things and make sure the place is going to meet the standards of his probation. No drugs, alcohol, safe living conditions, record of person living with (warrants, etc). You are under a very close eye and if he is your friend help him out and if he screws up kick him out before he wrecks your life.

  3. Although my background is in probation, parole shouldn't be much different.  What I looked for when I conducted a home study was: is the address valid, do the inhabitants know the defendant, (the inmate didn't just use any address), we often checked criminal histories of those in the household, check other information that may be specific to the offense (make sure no kids if its a s*x offender), we also talk with the host family and make sure that they know what they are getting into, we sometimes would verify sleeping quarters, make sure that there is water, heat ... etc.  We never really conducted a search, such as looking for drugs, but obviously, if there was something out in the open or there was an odor of drugs or obvious signs of drug use we might stop the plan.
