You get one when you are at university and you get (say in Victoria) a VCE number in yr 11 (i think) - what about other states? do you get this as well as a Student Number issued by he school itself? Or does it vary depending on state to state and school type (public/private)? Appreciate any thoughts!

  1. I live in California.  Go to public school.  And yes i was given a student number.

  2. I have a VCE number. One would assume that other states would allocate some kind of identification to their students as well. NO it is not allocated by your particular school, you will have a much less formal or significant identification in your school. Public or Private has no relevance.

  3. In California, at least in my district(city), we get issued a Student ID at Kinder, and it follows us until we graduate.

  4. I'm from qld and i had like a student number on my id card. I also had a number that i had to put on my qcs and uni application forms that i got while i was in yr 12

  5. In New South Wales (Australia) the school issues you a student number for your school certificate and higher school certificate.

(Mine's a public school if that helps)
