  1. There is no difference in price whether calling a mobile phone or a landline in the U.S.A.

On the basic BT Option 1 package, it is 17.5 pence per minute Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., or 11.5 pence per minute at any other time.   Prices include VAT.

If you will be calling regularly, however, you can get cheaper calls for an extra monthly fee.   The BT "International Saver" package costs £1 per month, for which you can then call the U.S. at 3p/min. at all times.  Or there's the "International Freedom" package at £5 per month, with which you can then call the U.S. (and many other countries) for no extra charge.

Go to this page & then select the country for a comparison:

For regular calls, you might also consider signing up with an alternate carrier, e.g. this service charges 4p connection then 0.5p/min. for calls to the U.S.
