Callum Ferguson called-up for last two ODIs against England
Australia has called up batsman Callum Ferguson for the last two ODIs against England. The batsman is going to bolster the hosts as they suffer a spate of injuries, on the eve of the World Cup set to start in the Indian sub-continent, next month.
The right-hander has been in impressive form in state cricket. He has scored runs in all formats and hopes to redeem his career at the highest level after it fell by the wayside owing to the injury he sustained. He got off to a fine start at the international
level and was being tipped as a future test cricketer; he averaged more than 40 runs in the ODI format.
Ferguson has been representing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 in the Big Bash T20 competition that is currently taking place in the country; he would be replacing Shaun Marsh in the team for the matches at Sydney and Perth.
"Callum has an excellent record in one-day internationals for Australia and is in good form this season," the chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said. "We are sure Callum will seize the opportunity that comes following the unfortunate
hamstring injury suffered by Shaun Marsh."  The last two matches would be taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, followed by the concluding game at the WACA in Perth on Sunday.
Meanwhile the Aussies are keen on trying out all the players that have made it to the World Cup team, which means a call will need to be made on Mr. Cricket Mike Hussey, who has had surgery on a serious hamstring injury.
The prolific scorer, who was the best batsman for the hosts in their 3-1 Ashes drubbing at the hands of England, suffered the injury during the opening ODI match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Hussey is recuperating after the injury; he is expected to regain full fitness in the next day or two which means that he would be traveling to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 where the defending champions play their Group A matches after the opening ceremony
takes place at Dhaka.
"At the moment it's only sort of two weeks since the surgery and basically in those two weeks I've been able to hit every target that we've set so far," Hussey told the ABC on Monday. "So that's a good start but I don't want to get too
carried away. I just want to keep keep hitting my target” stated Hussey who was a part of the team that won the World Cup title for the third time in a row in the Caribbean, in 2007.
Other than Hussey, the Aussies have other injury concerns that can hamper their progress in the tournament. One thing that favours them though is that they can rest most of the senior players ahead of the games against England, as they
pocketed the series with the win at Gabba in Brisbane, which gave them a 4-1 lead.
The team is set to field a depleted team at Sydney as frontline pacers like Mitchell Johnson and Shaun Tait are nursing injuries while Ryan Harris was ruled out of the World Cup team during the last Ashes match earlier in the year.
Ricky Ponting, the captain of the team for the World Cup, is also side-lined with a fractured finger, an injury that he also sustained during the Ashes campaign.
On the other, hand England is also facing its own injury concerns which would make the last two games extremely interesting considering the inexperience that the rival teams would have in their ranks.
