Calm Tim Lincecum prepared to fire up Game 5
It’s not an easy job to go to your first World Series and do an amazing job. Pressure rises and some pitchers and hitters fall hard. For Tim Lincecum, the experience is a first but the job is the same. The task at hand is to win as many matches as one can
and the two time Cy Young Award winner will look to repeat his antics from the first game of the competition. However, many will want to see the pitcher in a different state of mind. Tim will be pitching for the San Francisco Giants and the supporters would
hope the 26 year old ends the bid for the title in the 5th game when he turns up on the mound to pitch his screeching fast balls.
The young player was weary in the first game and it came as no surprise that the tension was at its peak. By October, many players tend to lose steam and succumb to an undesired fate but the ace ball thrower was at his level best to quell the Texas Rangers
who have been the rivals in the series. The pitcher took out just 3 hitters in the first game and conceded 4 runs. In addition he allowed 8 hits in just 5.2 innings of play. Bruce Bochy has commented on the Lincecum and said, “Really, that starts with the
guy on the mound, how he pitches. You're in a seven-game series, so there's not a lot of time to create that momentum.”
For Lincecum that fact is true but there’s nothing stopping the young player from accomplishing what others can’t in his position; a world series victory. The ambition is sky high and the player recently mentioned how he desires his style to turn up on the
field: "I just want to be more aggressive, of course. Quality of strikes as opposed to just throwing strikes."
Rangers Manager, Ron Washington feels the same concerning Tim Lincecum and he made that very apparent when he called him great after the first match. The gaffer was explaining Cliff Lee’s weak performance at the time and he issued a few compliments at the
young Giants’ pitcher in between his statement, crediting him for the win that got San Francisco to a good start.
