Question:

Calories, does it matter what type of calories you consume ..?

It is obvious that in order to have weight loss, one needs to consume less food, that is low fat. I cannot get myself to work out, I really hate it, and right now am going through a lot of stuff.. If I cut back on my calorie intake, lets say to 1000 calories, shouldnt that cause weight loss, as long as the 1000 calories are not all fat. For instance, cereal ( with rice milk) and fruit are my favorite 2 foods, if I have just that without all the meat ( dont like meat), or dairy ( lactose intolerant), or veggies, would I lose weight ? what has been your experience?

And is it better to eat 5 times a day, or just 3...

Thanks for your feedback.

  1. Hi there,

Firstly, you need to be careful with weight loss. Rapid weight loss really isn't healthy for you and if you are planning on losing weight for an event, then you need to plan in advance. Typicaly guidelines are 2 to 3 pounds weight loss a week is healthy. More than that and you do run a risk of damaging yourself.

Losing weight is, in itself, relatively easy. You need to

    1) Consume Less Calories

    2) Burn More Calories

What is difficult is the motivation for weight loss.

Most people struggle to lose weight because they do not have the motivation and because they give in to all the temptation around.

I personally have found that hypnosis is an excellent way to deal with weight loss motivation as it works with the subconscious mind and really helps you get motivated. A good hypnotist can also do things like stop you craving chocolate and sweet things and help you be more motivated with exercise and the like.

I've also found that as the excess weight starts to drop off I am feeling much more self confident and better about myself.

Hope that helps, but please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

  2. breakdown of calories

    1 gram of carb = 4 calories

    1 gram of protein = 4 calories

    1 gram of fat = 9 calories

Cutting your fat out is not a good idea. Having a load of saturated fats isn't beneficial either.

A good ratio of how many calories you receive from each is what you want.

For fat loss, a low glycemic 55% protein, 15% carb, 30% fat

For muscle build, 40% protein, 35% carb, 25% fat

Eat 6 times a day 2-3 hours apart. That will get your metabolism going.

    Drink a lot of water.

    8 hours of sleep.

  3. its better to eat 5 times a day versus 3, reason being.

-your metabolism is similar to a car. the more you fuel it the more it runs. so if you fuel your metabolism more often (but the size being in moderation) it will burn things faster. rather than having 3 big meals. also you more likely NOT over eat & feel more full. tricking your mind that your eating more, when in actuality you could be eating less. ALSO usually the small snacks will have less calories & fat in it than an entire meal.

    hope i helped(:
