Calories to eat a day...?

im 14 yrs old

5 ft tall

how many calories would i eat i a day to maintain my weight if i weighed 90 lbs

and how many calories would i eat a day in order to gain weight at 80 lbs?

  1. First, 80 pounds is considered very underweight for your height, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 15.6.  90 pounds (BMI 17.6) is also underweight, though less so. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, or approximately between 95 and 125 pounds.

    As for calories, it is recommended that a female in your age group should eat between 1750 and 2300 per day depending on your activity level. A male should eat between 2300 and 3100. Presumably you would have to eat more than this to gain weight.

  3. Uhm...   2000 is the standard I am guessing.  But it depends on if you do anything excercise oriented.  If you lift weights, do sit ups, you gotta take in a little more than you normally would

  4. At ninety pounds and still growing with moderate activity, 1700 calories is plenty to maintain your weight. To gain weight at 80 lbs, 1800-2000. These are roundabout numbers and you'll have to monitor weight weekly.

  5. 2,000 calories is the average. If you want to gain weight ask your doctor.
