  1. I had a similar problem before.  This is just blood and fluid collecting in that area and not getting pumped out as it should.

This is nothing serious, but still uncomfortable.

To correct this you need a good stretching program.  I like the one included in this package http://www.AthleticMuscleBuilding.com

It helped me with this problem.

  2. I've just started running as well. All you are doing is filling your calves with blood to feed the muscle oxygen. You aren't loosing stamina. After a week or so at the same distance you'll start to hurt less. Only when this happens can you increase the distance. Try reading other running questions. BTW have you got the correct trainers? Are they old? Can you run on grass for part of the run?

  3. I have/had the same problem, I know exactly what your talking about.  The best thing to do to avoid this is to run on flat land.  The best thing to do to build up your lower legs so that this stops is hill/step training (both up and down with extra emphasis on that extra little bit of spring you get from your calves) and then a long distance run at an average pace.  When you are done running it really helps to get a cloth, wet it with ice-cold water, put your legs together, elevated (maybe on a table, thats what I did) then cover your shins with the cloth.  Then later in the night try a hot bath.
