  1. Whether he is inbred or not, respect the guy for guts.

    The trainer, Carl Nafzger, used to ride bulls.

    At one point, he might have told Calvin Borel....

    "Hey, I rode some mean bulls in my time, I expect you to ride the rail for most of that trip."

    Riding the rail to save ground is not what most jockeys prefer to do, but when the trainer tells you that he's got a horse with a big closing kick, only the rail would help, given that the track was fast drying up from rain.

  2. I suppose you think that he plays the banjo also? Get over the stereotype, he's proven himself as a tremendous joc. Gutsy moves along the rail in all that traffic; Reminded me of "Whirlaway" (1941 Triple crown winner). I have a great respect for jockeys, they are amongst the best athletes anywhere.

    Also, how would you like having a job where an ambulance

    follows behind you at work ?

    Okay, so maybe he doesn't present himself as well as a Gary Stevens, Jerry Baily, or Chris McCarronn, but so what.

    Looking forward to the Preakness with Calvin aboard.

  3. What do you ride?A moped........

  4. =)

  5. Man! What a snide question. For your information he only has an 8th grade education, but he has a DOCTORATE in being a jockey.

  6. Don't judge a book by it's cover.  He rode well and he won.  Everybody gives credit to the horse, Street Sense, for winning and this isn't saying he isn't a great horse...but he wouldn't have won if Calvin hadn't ridden and guided him well.
