Cam not shutting off or recharging.

Question

I took pics all night Sat night. Everything was working perfectly. Iuploaded all my pics onto my computer Sun and even recharged thecamera. Wed afternoon I noticed the camera on and it wouldn't shut off.Battery depleted and now it won't recharge unless the adaptar isconnected. What happened???
