Well i have only one car and its a 94 camaro. I have a couple months before i really have to worry about this but thought i should ask now so i can get the tires cheaper. I know a camaro or any sports car is not ideal for the winter because its RW drive but its the only thing i got, so save the lecture =]

What would you recommend getting for the tires. Like what brand/type?

I was looking at these ones, what do you think?

  1. i have good year eagle 2 and they are great tires for snow i have rear weal drive truck and i got around great in an ice storm here in illinois last winter but was out of power for 5 days LOL you just have to be careful and always be gentle with the pedal and don't drive fast

  2. Any set of snow tires will fair better in the snow then regular tires. The trick is how you drive. Slow acceleration and being cautious will be very valuable. Also, if you can keep some kind of weight in the trunk it will help you greatly. Something like bags of sand, or ice melt.

  3. Winter or snow tires will fair better than even all season tires in snow and slush.  However, the larger cleats on the side generate more road noise, and normally the wear is not so good.  Any kind of dry performance is suspect, as snow tires are not designed for high speeds or cornering.

Now, not knowing how much snow you get,,,,, if you are hit with the occasional bad road, or once a month snow and clear thing,  look at the addition of an all season tire, with a Z chain.  I've attached a link for educational purposes,,,but shop around for the price.  Now is the time to buy this stuff, since prices go up when supplies go down after the first storm.
