Camas Crash bidding hat-trick in the 2012 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Heat 8
The two-year-old fawn dog, Camas Crash, is backed by 2 to 1 shot for the 2012 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Heat 8 on Thursday, 9th August at the Shelbourne Park over 550 yards flat. Competing for the €250 prize money are Razldazl Bugatti,
Confident Rankin, Tyrur McGuigan, Sheepwalk Shaw and Star Head.
Bidding for a hat-trick today is Crash’s two-year-old son.
He started racing just this season and has raced at Limerick and the Shelbourne Park. The first three races of his career were at Limerick. He struck a back-to-back by bagging the first two races of the career, but failed to toss in a hat-trick due to utter
failure in the third attempt.
Camas Crash ended fifth in a 550 yards on 22nd June, 2012 at Limerick.
The drilling session that followed did not help the situation much either. The two-year-old fawn son out of, Marys Opal, was trained over 525 yards at the Shelbourne Park on 30th June, 2012 and managed resting the distance in 28.52 seconds.
The Wheeler trained lost the next two races that followed the training session. He ended third and then lost the very next one to a fourth position.
However, in the last two races that he took part in, the two-year-old won at both the instances without any training or drilling whatsoever.
Camas Crash won the Bet With The Tote Open 525 on 26th July, 2012 at the Shelbourne Park over 525 yards. Breaking from the first gate and then refusing to delegate lead got the race going for him in 28.15 seconds. He won by the staggering margin
of seven lengths and set Krelco as the runner-up who timed the track distance in 28.71 seconds.
The two-year-old then took charge of the Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 1 Heat 6 on 1st August at the Shelbourne Park over 550 yards. Leading without any doubts about success got the hound on the other end of the wire in 29.56 seconds and
won by the identical margin of seven lengths for a straight second time.
Settling as the runner-up was the favourite entry of the race, Droopys Cain.
