Hi i am looking to buy a new shape 2001 audi a4, i have two that i may look at - one has a recently replaced cambelt and water pump and has 83,000 miles on the clock, the other is at a cheaper price but has not had these parts replaced and has 88,000 mile son the clock......obviously the cheaper priced one is more tempting but how much will these parts set me back???As i know that from 75,000-100,000 miles these parts can and will fail if not replaced.

any ideas??

  1. your looking at around £250 to £400 to get them done...

  2. Its better to go for the one that's had its cam belt etc replaced it indicates a better service history .The scheduled time to replace cam belt is 2.6 hrs average Audi dealer prices abot £90 per hour plus parts approx £190

  3. My inclination would be to 'bite the bullet' and go for the dearer car. The fact that the cam belt and pump has been renewed tells me that this car has been looked after compared to the other vehicle. Also, as pointed out by a previous answer, you would have to shell out a fair old whack of cash to get the job done. And is is vitally important that it is done. Snapped cam belt can often mean destroyed engine. No exaggeration.
