ok so im i this scholarship program thingy where i have to take my AS levels after only 3 months of entering college. my O levels ( in malaysia ) were more to memerizing and my lecturers keep telling me that A levels is waaay different. im really scared and its been a month now and whenever there were quizzes i didnt really do that well. I only read the textbooks and the answers to the questions werent in the textbooks! Does this mean that the CIE textbook isnt enough to score an A or does the AS level questions keep to the textbook only (since those quizzes were set by my lecturers and not CIE board?)

besides that, which books are good reference books? Are those really thick books like Longman, Advanced Biology (jones& jones) etc really helpful?

and please are there any tips for these 3 subjects? thanks x*x

  1. I'm sorry this isn't exactly an answer, as such

However, I took Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A level (OCR but there isn't an extreme difference I don't think, it's all A level standard in the end) and am a continuing student of Biology and Chemistry at university level.

If you like or are willing, I would be more than happy to tutor you for these three months that you need =].

I'm not asking for anything; I'm not trying to scam you.

I would just love to help =].

If you'd like to, just send over an email and I can help you as much as I can (although I'll be away for the last week of august and first week of september).

Otherwise all I would say is just stick with the text books that a related directly to your course and read around any subjects from those books in other larger text books that would go into more detail or use the internet for reference.

  2. Im taking a levels and the teachers always say the text books alone can only get you a C grade.  You have to do reading outside the textbook they give you and "read around the subject".  I get past exam papers and quizzes to practice the types of questions it helps a lot (Y)
