Camcorder, firewire, downloading help!?

Question

i finaly got a fire wire cable, installed the port and now i cant save my files bacause my computer doesnt have any software, does anyone know whare i could find some (prefferably from offical microsoft site, i have and XP)

What about windows movie maker, it comes with XP.

Start with the camera manufacturers website. There should be some software provided with the camera for some basic editing.  Otherwise check into Adobe Premiere.

Windows XP (SP2) or newer has MovieMaker bundled.

Connect the miniDV tape based camcorder's DV port to the firewire port on the computer with the firewire cable; with the camcorder in Play (or VCR) mode, launch MovieMaker and Capture the video from the camcorder.
