Camcorder buying advice?

Question

I want to buy a good camcorder for home videos etc. I am willing to spend about US$ 1000 to 1200 for it. It is so confusing to check the various specs of so many many models.

Can anyone advise me about it and the merits of which style of recording media to go in for and which is overall a betetr model?

I seem to be more interested in Sony or Canon!

My mom has a canon, u can get em from best buy, go to the camcorder section, some are really good, good luck on buying one

I highly suggest HDR SR12 It was very great at home vidoes with Smooth Slow motion Functions and Great HD
