Camcorder? play videos on computer? codec?

Question

when i play a video from my camcorder( samsung ) then it only plays the sound, not the video, it says im missing a codec, what do i do, or what codec do i need

are you playing the camcorder video on your camcorder?  or are you playing it on your computer?

If you are playing it on your camcorder, something is wrong with the video, or it was not recorded on that camcorder.

If you are playing it on your computer, you will need to use the free video editing software (Windows Movie Maker or iMovie) to capture the video from the camcorder to the computer via firewire.  If this does not help, download a free media player such as Quicktime or RealPlayer.  RealPlayer http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-2753466-1... can almost all of todays formats.

If you use GSpot it'll tell you which codec you need.  You can then download and install it.
