Camcorder problem sharp?

Question

my camcorder is a sharp vl-nz100 and i want to import the movies from the camera to my laptop

i have a viao fz283bn and it is running vista bussiness

when i plug it in and click on the movie maker it dosen't recognize it and same thing happens when i use the viao movie story thing also

the wire is new so i dont think it is the wire so please help

You may need to enable the firewire port on your laptop.

You need administrator rights to do this.

run devmgmt.msc (or manage 'my computer...etc).

You should see a IEE 1394 bus host controller tab.

Double-click on the controller and it should be under the 'driver' tab where you can enable it if it's disabled.

I don't know you laptop, but your BIOS may have it turned off too
