Question:

Camcorder write protection?

by  |  earlier

I want to transfer some data from one computer to another, but then whilst uploading data onto my camcorders HDD, it said that the disk is 'write protected'. It's a sony handycam (dcr-sr35). Does anyone know how to bypass this?

Thank you.

  1. Don't use the camcorder to transfer the video. It may have a hard drive, but that does not mean you can use it like any other hard drive - it is for storing camcorder video only, not data from your computer. Even if the files originated from the camcorder, it does not care. If the files are coming from your computer, it will not be allowed.

    1) Burn data CDs or data DVDs of the video files you want to transfer.

    2) Upload to YouSendIt.com and download with the other computer.

    3) Transfer using an ethernet cable and connecting the computers together... lots of ways out there...

    4) FTP the files.

    5) If they are small files (less than 20 meg), email them.

    6) Use an external drive (not the camcorder's) connecting via USB...
