Question:

Camelbak Hydration System recommendations to clean after riding.?

I currently own a CamelBak Hydration System and I am curious if there is any general rule of thumb to cleaning this system after each use. I know that it should be cleaned with the approved tablets and such as provided in the instructions of the system. This can't be the case after each use, can it? When I come back after using it I drain the water out and blow out any water that was in the mouth tube, but I can not remove every drop of water, so a little remains. I then s***w the cap back on and hang for next use. Is this correct or is there a procedure after each use? Thanks for the help..........

  1. There is a cleaning kit that includes a brush that will fit the tube, and a brush to clean the reservoir.  I also keep mine in the freezer between uses so nothing will grow in them.

  2. I only put water and ice in my hydration pack.  Sport drinks go in the water bottles.  Water bottles are easier to clean.  After a ride I rinse out the bladder and put into freezer.  About once a month or so I wash the bladder with dish washing soap.

I have been using this method for years.

    Good Luck

  3. I know there are cleaning kits out there and tablets that you can put in, but I don't know how often you should use those. But I do have 2 tips for you

1, don't close your bag, that seals in everything and it grows and whatnot...gross

2, try putting it in the freezer, it was actually what my jansport camelbak suggested doing...

  4. you can clean it with ordinary dish soap, rinse thoroughly and sanitize with white vinegar or lemon juice. skip the tabs (lemon juice and vinegar are cheaper, and don't require a separate errand)..
