Camelot’s next stop seems to be Leopardstown where he will compete in the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes
The A.P. O’Brien trained Camelot is the talk of the town after he landed a magnificent victory in the Group 1 Qipco 2,000 Guineas Stakes (204th Running) (British Champions Series) at Newmarket.
Ridden by jockey, J.P. O’Brien, the three-year-old colt banked on his status as race favourite, and with a late run landed a tough race.

He broke through the wire first and landed the narrow victory, a neck before the N. Clement trained, French Fifteen.
The victory at Newmarket was ahat-trick win for the son of Montjeu, out of mare Tarfah, who started his racing career in July, 2011.
The bay colt has greater things in store for him, as he is among the fifty entered for the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on 8th September, 2012.
Chief executive of Leopardstown, Pat Keogh, was immensely pleased with this decision and he expressed his delight in these words:
"We are delighted with the entries for the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes.
"While it is a long way between now and September, it is lovely to see horses of this quality entered.
"This is probably the strongest field in the history of the race. It speaks volumes for the international status of the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes."
If Camelot succeeds in this race, he will automatically qualify for the Breeders’ Cup as this is part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” series.
The Breeders’ Cup, this year will be held at Santa Anita Park this fall.
Along with the D. Smith, Mrs. J. Magnier, M. Tabor owned runner, chances are that Bonfire, Parish Hall, Cirrus Des Aigles, St Nicholas Abbey, Twice Over, Reliable Man, Monterosso, and Cityscape will also compete in the Irish Champion Stakes.
Participation in this race will raise Camelot’s esteem among his connections along with the fans and the punters.

He gained significant attention from his maiden onwards where he defeated the P.D. Deegan trained, All Approved, by 2 lengths in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2yo Maiden at Leopardstown on 14th July, 2011.
