Camelot and Bonfire will bring the heat to the track in the Investec Derby
With the Investec Derby inching closer, trainers and owners will look busy assessing whether to run their horses in the mega-event or not, which is scheduled to take place at Epsom on 2nd June, 2012.
The A.P. O’Brien trained Camelot is still running, and the odds seem to be working in his favour with a recent victory at Newmarket in the Group 1 Qipco 2,000 Guineas Stakes (204th Running) (British Champions Series) on 5th May,
2012, where he narrowly defeated, French Fifteen by a neck.
O’Brien hopes that this “special colt” will ace the race and use the track to his advantage. He stated that: “We’re used to coming home very humbled,” O’Brien added “All I can do is my best and sometimes that’s not always enough.”
Bonfire is also one of the runners, who will compete in this race, and he will definitely avail the opportunity and try to beat, Camelot.
The son of Manduro, out of mare Night Frolic, does not lack talent and as a three-year-old, he has proved himself to be hard-working and skillful.

The Andrew Balding trained bay colt recently emerged triumphant from the Group 2 Betfred Dante Stakes at York on 17th May, 2012, where he defeated, Ektihaam, by ¾ of a length.
Bonfire was scratched from the Dee Stakes at Chester, as it seemed the surface of the track was too soft for him.

He has no trouble conquering large distances as jockey, Jimmy Fortune commented that:
“He just got a little tired in the last 50 yards but a mile and a half shouldn’t be a problem and he’s a handy little horse who travels well so he should be suited to Epsom.”
Noble Mission, who comes from the same pedigree as superstar Frankel, will be representing trainer Sir Henry Cecil in this event.

The trainer will also run Thomas Chippendale, hoping that the three-year-old will perform an encore of his recent victory.
The son of Dansili, out of mare All My Loving, emerged victorious from the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E B F Soar Maiden Stakes (Div I) at Leicester in October, 2011, where he defeated, Went The Day Well, by a neck.
