Camelot as greyhound: Name matters a lot
Those, who believe that names matter a lot, and those, who love the way the A. P. O'Brien trained bay colt Camelot performs, will be pleased to know that a same name exists in the greyhound racing world as well. Yes, this is C. McKitten’s white and black
b***h who has stepped out of the podium for just once since the dawn of the calendar year.
The four-year-old veteran runner has a number of excellent podium finishes, predominantly first positions, to her name. This is why people say that Camelot is a lucky name.
Interestingly, the month of September proved to be unlucky for both of the Camelots. The colt, who had won each of his total five starts and was attempting to break Nijinsky’s 42-year record of Triple Crown Victory, could not be able to win the St Leger
Stakes on September 15.
It was a big setback for the colt and his fans. On the other hand, the b***h also ran for four times during the whole month, but did not register any success. Her fans were also disappointed at this.
But October made difference between the two. The colt still remained unimpressive as he finished as down as 7th in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Group 1) (3yo+ Colts, Fillies & Mares) (Turf) on October 7, but the b***h gained some miraculous
momentum and won an A1 race elegantly on October 19.
That was the b***h’s tremendous achievement. Before the beginning of the race, no one from the spectators and bettors could even think of his success as some big guns like Tictac Diamond and Crooks Elmo were lined-up against her.
T. Jameson’s Tictac Diamond was the 6-4 favourite for the race. Much to the surprise of all, Camelot unleashed fiery pace from the very beginning and placed herself at the driving seat.
The favourite runner tried to impede the b***h but she went on to finish first by the margin of ½ length. It was amazing indeed.
Both the b***h and the colt are set to participate in some big games in the months to come. Let us see how many more commonalities they develop. Good luck to them.
