Camelot confident to win Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies)

The A. P. O’Brien-trained 4-race unbeaten bay colt, Camelot, looks to be confident enough to claim the ace title of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies) by capitalising on the form produced by his outstanding victory in Investec Derby (Group 1) of June 2.
The three-year-old young and momentous colt is the 3-10 best-priced runner with the paddy power for the high-profile Irish event that is going to take place on the 1 mile and 4 furlongs soft track of Curragh today, June 30. The €725,000 mega marathon will commence at 7:40 (GMT).
Camelot is keen to keep his tremendous success streak intact and add another classic conquest to his career chart. The brilliant son of Montjeu out of Tarfah marvellously finished first over 1 mile in his maiden outing entitled as Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2yo Maiden, held at Leopardstown on July 14, 2011.
The maverick sprinter moved ahead to win Racing Post Trophy (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies) at Doncaster on October 22.
Extending his winning momentum to 2012, the Derrick Smith-owned colt elegantly notched up top spot in Qipco 2000 Guineas Stakes (204th Running) (British Champions Series) (Group 1) (Colts & Fillies) at Newmarket track on May 5, 2012.
The skilled sprinter nicely grabbed the grand title of the Investec Derby (Group 1) at Epsom on June 2. This was his first ever going over 1 mile and 4 furlongs----the same distance he is supposed to cover in the coming contest.
Thus, Camelot is the perfect candidate for the title of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby. He is all set to run under his regular jockey J. P. O’Brien, the son of the trainer.
Despite the fact that all odds go to Camelot’s favour, A. P. O’Brien is seriously worried about the soft ground of Curragh that does not suits to the racing persona of his pupil. It is for the first time that the novice runner is forced to run on soft and slow track. The trainer fears that this thing can go against him.
Moreover, the enthusiastic runner will have to face some resistance from Light Heavy and Speaking Of Which.
But Camelot is not likely to bother much about these factors as he is born to win. So let us enjoy a rip-roaring action today. Good luck to the colt.
