  1. i got my cam for a gift last yr an i love it . Kodak easy share c743

  2. I don't know of any under $150, but if you can go a little higher, Nikon Cool Pix (around $180ish) and Canon PowerShot SD870 (more like $250ish) are 2 nice ones I recently researched.  My mom has the Nikon and loves it for just taking pix.  I have the Canon and love it b/c I can adjust some settings like I can w/ my Canon Rebel XT SLR.  Both take extremely nice photos.

Do you just want to point and shoot or are you interested in being able to adjust manual settings like aperture and shutter speed, etc.?  That will determine which camera is best for you.  One thing to look for is a high MP--like 8ish is good, anything higher is unnecessary for the amateur.  You can look on Best Buy.com and check the specs on the 2 I mentioned and look for a similar one that's cheaper.

Generally speaking, Canon, Nikon, Kodak are good brands.  But each camera has it's own functionality that will determine if it's better over another.

  3. Go to http://dpreview.com and compare the different cameras which fall into your price range, read the reviews, and then go to the store and handle the cameras, then buy the one which fits you best.

  4. This is slightly  above your  price range, but I am  thrilled with this camera...........

bought  for   $  170.00 a  Canon Powershot   SD1000  in the color  "Black"  which is actually   silver/black.

It is  fabulous camera.   I have  had it    5 months,  taken    at least  700  pics,  and it is doing  Great.    I bought mine at  www.amazon.com      for  $ 170.00  which included shipping and  handling.     It  has already been worth  far  more than I paid for it.

  5. It kind of depends on what you want to do with it.

Professional pictures: still life, etc.  You probably won't get much for 150 bucks.

Family pictures, fun, memories, just amateur stuff: You can get a pretty nice camera for that price.  Kodak (my fav) has a great line of them.  Nikon is another great camera brand.

Sony's brands take good pictures, but keep in mind you have to have a SONY card/mem. stick to go in there and a SONY printer, etc.  With the other kinds you can get whatever type of mem card/stick/printer/attachment features you want.
