I have a FujiFilm FinePix J10. The instructions say that it should charge for 100 minutes then the orange indicator should switch off and the charge should be done. For some reason its been 3 hours now and the orange indicator is still on. When I charged the battery for the first time, it worked fine, it turned off after about 100 minutes. Its now been 3 hours. What could be the problem? Thanks.

  1. Hello there,

This exact thing happened to me last week.   I have two Canon batteries for my camera.  One of the batteries charged in about 30 minutes, so I expected the other one do take as long.  But after 2 1/2 hours it was still charging.  I decided to leave it alone for a few minutes and when I went back.... the orange light had turned to green.

Perhaps what is happening is the batteries are getting older and take longer to completely charge.   What I am going to do is monitor just how long it lasts in the camera.   If it goes out relatively soon after I install it....  I am going to assume it is just old and needs to be replaced.

You should try the same thing.   After you charge it, go out and take some pictures and see how much time you get from a charge.

Hope that gives you something to try.  If all fails... try calling the company and ask your specific question.    That is my next move, just to make sure I know what I am doing.

    Thanks for reading.  :))

  2. Clean the battery and camera electrical contacts as described in the source link.  This is a common problem with rechargeable batteries used in Digital Camera and many other applications. The NiMH batteries are the same type used in most hybrid cars and should last for years with regular use.
