Camera at a red light (techically a green light)?

ok, I did not get a ticket yet. But I did notice a flash happened as I was passing by an intersection that had cameras. I am familar with this intersection as I drive by it everyday. But today, the light was clearly green. (still had the pedestrian walking sign on) but the camera still flashed. I noticed it flashed a lot upon any cars going as well the same way. Now, I'm a little worried because I am innocent. Will the camera have the picture of the light being green?

  1. It's possible it was another car being photoed.  I think those should be outlawed because there is no way for you to defend your self.  If you go to court over one it I am interested how they prove beyond a possible doubt you broke the law without any witnesses.  By the way they are no longer used in my city for those reasons but I am just curious how other cities get away with it.

  2. It's a great question...it should have the light being green, since if you ran the light you can be sure the light would show up as being red.  I had a question about photo enforcement on our tollways so I called the state police and asked him a bunch of questions.  He was very helpful.  You might try the same.  It's possible they were testing the cameras.

Edit: My guess is that the ticket would arrive in 2-4 weeks, depending on how big the backlog is.

  3. The cameras in my town take a picture of the car under the light with the color of the light showing.  I don't think you have anything to worry about. I don't think it would hold up in court if they couldn't prove the color of the light.
