Canon A-590. Buy a padded case as well.Most kids tend to knock things around!

Check out the Kodak V1253 for 200/250 euro.

I am 14 and would like to buy the Sony Alpha 200 for 500 euro, but I guess that boy might not want to take stunning quality photos? =P

Hiya,

I was doing some research into entry level cameras for my sister's birthday.

Best we found was the Canon A470

7.1MP

3.4X Optical Zoom

2.5" screen

I don't know how much they are where you are, but it's at a budget price point in the UK. Very good as a point and shoot and also with some serious manual controls if the hobby becomes an obsession, which it very well may!!
