Question:

Camera for best family photos??

I have a Canon sd800 digital camera which I paid alot of money for. I heard it was the best. But I haven't been very happy with it. It seems to always make objects in the picture look jumbo. I have a friend who has a Kodak camera and her pictures always come out clear and nice color. Maybe I am not using the right settings on my Canon or I just need a different camera. I would just like to be able to capture nice, clear quality pictures of my family. I have a 3 month new baby girl who I love taking pictures of.

Please any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!!

  1. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it isn't the camera's fault.

If you can find the time, try and learn a bit about basic photography. Get out some books from the library - your photos will improve vastly!

In the meantime, a few basics for you:

Read the manual properly, understand what the different modes are for.

Take photos in good light - diffused is best, rather than middle of the day in bright sunshine. Use a tripod when it gets a little dimmer.

Don't be too close to your subject - your camera can't focus and/or the features get distorted. If you want to be super close to something small, use the macro setting.

Use lowest possible ISO - it gives you the best quality.

Get down to your baby's level..... don't always shoot down on her from your level.

Again........ there is so much more to learn, you'll be very pleased if you do. Your little girl will grow up way too quickly to waste your chances for good photos of her.
