Alrighty so my almost 2 yr. old Nikon Coolpix S5 just stopped working and we already tried buying a new battery and all the stuff...So that's not the problem. The problem is I am leaving for Florida for vacation in 4 days. We ar egoing to buy a new camera for the vacation. I asked my camera-whorish friend what camera I should get and she said look at the megapixels...So yeah. Any ideas on a camera with lots of mega pixels, a trustworthy brand(nikon, olympos), and kinda cheap or on sale because I am broke from buying my iTouch. Also if you found the camera on the internet include a link please :)

One more thing...I need to get it from a store like hhgregg or Best Buy or Walmart because I can't wait for S&H on online buys.

Thanks and best answer gets 10 points!

  1. I suggest the Olympus Stylus 850 SW. Its waterproof to 10' and shockproof to a 5' drop.

    Best Buy carries the 850SW.

  2. okay...I'll try to help you out.  I just bought a Sony Cybershot W130 It was about $250.00 and I really enjoy it.  I know a lot of people don't like Sony, but I don't see whats wrong with them.  Anyway, it's features:  8.1 mega pixels, 4x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom, 2.5" LCD Screen, Super steady shot, Smile shutter, Face detection, 9 point auto focus, there are a lot more those are just a few that come to mind immediately.  There is also (if you decide a Sony is okay) the Cyber shot W120 with 7.2 mp for slightly cheaper.  Or you can look around for any other camera that would be comparable.

Also another tip for a better deal, Wal-mart will price match.  When I found my camera I found it for 20-40 dollars cheaper on-line at samsclub.com, because wal-mart and Sam's club are associated you can print that page off and ask them to price match that price for you.

you can go to www.dpreview.com for a list of camera's/buying guides.  If  you have a few different cameras in mind you can also go to that site and do side by side comparison's.  Or go into one of the store with a least of features that you want your camera to have listed from most important to least important and ask what they would recommend.

Good Luck in finding the camera you want.

  3. Check out the Canon Powershots.   I've had one for over two years and love it.   Best Buy carries a good selection.  Canon is the leader in point & shoots from what I've read.

Have a great time on your vacation!
