  1. The Canon SD890 IS is great. It is 10 megapixels with 5X optical zoom. It runs around $290-$350. And it does take the SDHC cards :)

    I want that camera so bad!

For $70 more, you can have a DSLR that has a much larger sensor than any P&S camera, thus much better images.  You will have to give up shooting movies with it ... you will have to decide which is the most important to your ... amazing photos or a little point and shoot camera that will not take high quality video or still images

    As you can see, expecting true HD video from a under $400 camera was probably caused more by marketing than any reality.
