Camera stands and movie question?

me and my friend want to make a short 30-60 minute movie but we have no budget and nothing really substantial to put in

i have to get a camera stand for a house-hold video camera, is 3ft-4ft a good size to have?

  1. Well your can try Walmart or even a Goodwill store and sometimes family members who've had or have camcorders will have a stand hanging around. Walmart sells a 3ft - 5ft tripod for about 30.00 I believe but you get what you pay for so take care not to let it drop. OK good luck you guys.


  2. Whoa, before you start working on that mini-feature, I suggest checking this out:

    You don't even have to enter the festival. Just watch some of the films (try Bogfather and Tattoo Removal). And it doesn't have to be 15 seconds long, but don't go over by too much. Just try to see what you can say in a short amount of time and experiment, even if it makes absolutely no sense at all (a guy ordering a pizza from his closet with a banana? Sure.)

    FYI, "camera stands" are usually called tripods. Although it depends on what you're shooting, 3-4 feet sounds a little short to me. If I were you, I'd try to get at least a 5 ft one so that you have a little more flexibility. Hope this helps!
